When it comes to cheap phones, LG doesn’t exactly have a stellar tradition. But the TU720 is here to try and change it. The TU720’s design is somewhat different from the usual Shine look, with less reflective surfaces and a much more professional feel to it. Its greatest innovative feature is the squat joystick, which is a touch-sensitive controller that’s remarkably intuitive to use and will definitely set the standard for LG for some time to come.

The TU720 is great at video streaming and the screen is amazing to watch TV in. If you get it with a good Internet package, you’ll be getting crazy speeds – 7.2Mbps! It has all the normal features you’d find on a phone like this, such as calendar, notes, memos, and a few kooky extras like a tip calculator and the ominously titled “D-Day Counter”, which is basically a glorified appointment reminder.

This phone is probably the best at its price-range and I’d recommend anyone to take it for a spin as soon as humanly possible.

Now it is possible to do many things that you used to have to use your PC for, on the go.

Mobile phones also provide you with reassurance and security. You know that when you are carrying your phone, you can always call someone in case of an emergency. And, as they also have one you can always get hold of that person. Before the invention of the mobile telephone it could be days before you called someone at the exact time that they were home.

When travelling, mobile phone rates can be a lot cheaper than using the phone in your hotel room thus saving you money. As long as you have pre-warned your provider that you intend to use the phone abroad so that they can enable overseas usage.

If you are looking for cheap mobile phones, then look no further and head on over to phones4u.co.uk

Public consciousness lately has been very focused on ‘living green’, and so green gadgets have been becoming more popular. From televisions to cameras, this label has been applied to all kinds of electronics, promising a device that uses less power, and made of recyclable materials. The first to apply this to a cellphone was T-Mobile, with the Motorola Renew W233. Flaunting a long battery life, and plastic parts made of recycled plastic materials. Now it’s Samsung’s turn with the new Reclaim SPH-M560, also made of recycled plastic and even packaged in a recycled paper box. They go so far as to use soy-based ink in the user manual.

Though, Samsung improves on the idea by adding a full QWERTY keyboard in a sleek, slider design. It’s quite compact, at only .56 inches deep, and weighing only 3.5 ounces. It features a 320×240 resolution screen, and a shortcut button for speakerphone. It also has a 2 megapixel camera, which offers pictures in five resolutions and three quality settings. And as for the battery life, it has 6 hours of talk time, but has been tested at 7 hours and 29 minutes. Following their ‘green’ theme, it has also passed radiation tests by the FCC at a digital SAR of 1.16 watts per kilogram.

The Reclaim is available for $49.99 with activation of a two-year contract.

As a part of a joint venture along with Sprint and Clearwire, Comcast has begun introducing it’s mobile service over WiMax technology. They are calling it a ‘Any mobile, any time’ plan, which starts at $70 a month to allow customers to make unlimited calls to any other mobile, despite the carrier. This also includes unlimited text messaging and data transfers.

If that isn’t enough, they also allot 450 minutes for calls made to landline phones monthly. If you need more, you can pay $90 a month and get 900 minutes. Family plans are also available, four lines for $170 a month.

Dan Hesse, a CEO at Sprint believes that their customers shouldn’t have to pick and choose who they talk to, or how often they talk to, contacts who have chosen other service providers. They are also offering a new plan called “A-List”, which rivals T-Mobile’s MyFaves, and Verizon Wireless’ Friends and Family plans. Being the third-largest wireless telecommunications network in the United States, and with their recent suffering from subscriber losses, they have been pushed to be more competitive with other top companies.

Focusing on potential links between cancer and cell phone use has been the U.S. Senate Health Committee’s priority as of late. They are concerned about the similarities to the lung cancer-cigarette connection that was denied for decades.

Tom Harkin, Iowa senator and head of the committee, has expressed his concern about the fact that no one has been able to prove that cell phones do not cause cancer. He has stated that he is reminded by this country’s experience with cigarettes, which had a similar beginning. It took years between the first warnings of the dangers of smoking, and the final conclusion that cigarettes cause cancer.

It is common knowledge among researchers that low levels of radiation can cause cancers of the brain and central nervous system, much like what a cellphone can emit. It can present itself as a malignant brain tumor, which coincidentally was the cause of death for the former head of committee, Senator Edward Kennedy.

Considering an estimated 4 billion people worldwide, 275 million people in the U.S., use cellphones, this is a serious matter. Danish researchers studied statistics on the subject four years ago. Comparing cell phone usage with brain tumor patients. Last year, researchers in Norway and France reported similar results.
